Canadian Prayer Book Society on Dar

A Statement from The Chair and Vice-Chair of the Prayer Book Society

on the recent Primates’ Meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Prayer Book Society of Canada is most grateful for the Primates’ Communiqué and for the draft “Anglican Covenant” that graciously recall the member churches of Anglican Communion to the principles of the Christian Faith, received through the foundational documents of our common tradition that unite the Communion and that guide and govern the respective polities of the member Churches. We are grateful for a process of referral and adjudication based on matters of principle that will help to maintain the unity of the Communion.

The Prayer Book Society of Canada reminds the Bishops of the Anglican Church of Canada of their commitment to the Anglican Communion expressed in the Solemn Declaration of 1893, which is binding on the Canadian Church, and which complements the draft Anglican Covenant for the Communion as a whole.

The Prayer Book Society of Canada prays that the work of the Primates will encourage all Canadian Anglicans in their continuing commitment to Christ’s one, holy, catholic and apostolic church.
